Cambridge Home School Online (CHS Online), founded in 2008 as a division of Cambridge Online Education, is a UK government-registered learning company that offers online homeschooling with IGCSE curriculum to students all over the world.
Homeschooling can offer tremendous learning opportunities along with added advantages like flexibility and individualized learning. Several students are experiencing the joy of quality education from the comfort of their homes by joining online schools. One such great option for homeschoolers is Cambridge Home School Online.
For homeschoolers, Cambridge Home School offers 3 levels namely, Primary prep, Lower school, and Upper school.
Level | Age Groups | Subjects |
Primary Prep (Key Stage 2) | 3 to 6 years | Maths, English, Science, Topic, Art, Languages and Cultures |
Lower School (Key Stage 3) | 11- 13/14 years | Art and Design, Biology, English Language, Chemistry, English Literature, French Geography, History, Latin, Mathematics, Physics, Spanish |
For students who wish to pass International GCSE qualifications, the upper school level comprises CHS Level 3 and CHS Level 4. These qualifications are a great support for progression to A Levels and eventually to university.
Below are the subjects available at this stage:
The subjects chosen at the International GCSE should be the same that the student wishes to study at the university. In addition, students can only opt for A level in a subject if they have already studied and acquired a minimum of B grade at the International GCSE level. You can go through more details of this option on this page.
For students in the age groups of 12 to 13 years, Cambridge A Levels offers home-based learning opportunities for advanced level school education. Students do have an edge in the competitive world through the elements of world-class education. And highly qualified teachers and career advice add great value to the student’s university preparation. However, Cambridge Home School’s A level or Sixth Form is not readily available for all students. Because the screening process is designed to shortlist only the best candidates.
The subjects are as follows:
The annual fee reported by the school is £9,000 GBP (currency of the United Kingdom). However, for Primary Prep the school fee is £5,000 GBP.
For any enhanced application, a non-refundable administration fee of £299 GBP is charged per application/personal statement.
Students with exceptional skills can certainly make the most of this homeschooling option. However, this institution sets the benchmark quite high so many students might not be the ‘Ideal Student’ for Cambridge Home School. You can consider other online schools if you are sure about meeting the set standards, and more importantly, if you are comfortable with the uncertainty of the waitlist.
