Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS)

The Association of Colorado Independent Schools was founded in 1957 and it became a part of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) in 1963. ACIS used to accredit schools in partnership with the Colorado Department of Education from 1978 to 1991. It started phasing out its private school accreditation program and the state of Colorado accorded full recognition and authority to ACIS as a separate accrediting agency from 1991. ACIS is an officially recognized accrediting agency by the International Council for Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA).

ACIS Accreditation

The ACIS accreditation is recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the State of Colorado, and Colorado Shines. It is also a proud member of the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA) and follows the organization’s Criteria for Effective Independent School Accreditation Practices. The ICAISA conducts a thorough review of each member’s accreditation program to validate that it meets or exceeds those standards, every 10 years.
